#SoundararajaperumalTemple is a temple dedicated to the #HinduGod, Vishnu. It is located in #Nagapattinam, a town in the South Indian state of #TamilNadu. Constructed in Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries AD. It is counted as one among the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu. Vishnu is worshiped as Soundararaja Perumal and his consort Lakshmi as Soundaravalli. The temple is believed to have been built by the Medieval Cholas of the late 8th century AD, with later contributions at different times from Thanjavur Nayaks. The temple has two inscriptions dating from the Chola period. The temple has a five-tiered rajagopuram (gateway tower) within a granite wall. The complex contains all the shrines and water bodies associated with it. Soundararaja Perumal is believed to have appeared for sage Markandeya, Dhuruva, Saleesan and the Hindu god Bhoomadevi. The temple observes six daily rituals and three yearly festivals. The chariot festival, celebrated during the Tamil month of Chittirai (March–April), is the most prominent festival of the temple. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

#FortDansborg, locally called #DanishFort, is a Danish fort located in the shores of #BayOfBengal in #Tranquebar (#Tharangambadi) in the #SouthIndian state of #TamilNadu. #FortDansborg was built in the land ceded by Thanjavur king Ragunatha Nayak in an agreement with Danish Admiral Ove Gjedde in 1620 and acted as the base for Danish settlement in the region during the early 17th century. The fort is the second largest Danish fort after Kronborg. The fort was sold to the British in 1845 and along with Tranquebar, the fort lost its significance as the town was not an active trading post for the British. After India's independence in 1947, the fort was used as an inspection bungalow by the state government till 1978 when the Department of Archaeology, Government of Tamil Nadu took over the control of the fort. The fort is now used as a museum where the major artifacts of the fort and the Danish empire are displayed.

Madurai #MeenakshiAmmanTemple According to legend, the sacred #Suyambulingam discovered by the king of Gods indira at #Kadambavanam, was later enshrined by him in #Madurai. The fact that the Lord is seen on the vehicle of Indira in this temple is said to be proof for this. Many historical evidences of the temple have been found dating back from early A.D. The temple was almost completely destroyed in the year 1310 following the invasion of the Islamic conqueror Malikkapur. As kings who were followers of Islam were noted for their intolerance towards other religions, the invaders destroyed most of the ancient sculptures of the temple. #Thirugnanasambandar the Hindu Saint has mentioned the temple in his songs which go back to early 7th century. The Lord has been described as Alavai Iraivan in his songs. The temple was restored to its pristine glory in the late 14th century when the Hindu Kings came back to power in Madurai. This can also be termed as a new beginning of a new era in the history of the temple, when it was almost rebuilt. The King Thirumalai Naicker played an important role in the construction of the new form of the temple according to records. The #MaduraiMeenakshiAmmanTemple is now under the administration of the HR and CE department of #TamilNadu.

Located by the banks of river #Satluj, Rampur used to be the capital of former princely state of Bushahr in the 18th-century. Since it fell on the ancient trade route to Afghanistan, #Ladakh, China and Tibet, Rampur benefited from a wide range of economic and cultural activities. It's still a bustling town and a melting pot of cultures of the region. From historical palaces to the temple villages of Nirath, Duttnagar and Nirmand, there's a lot to see and do here. The highlight of the town is a fair called 'Lavi' that is held here every year in November. Arguably one of the biggest fairs of North India, the fair is popular among the people of Shimla and the travellers alike. Some of the best things to buy here include chilgoza or pine nuts, shawls, crop produce, handicraft items, dry fruits from Kinnaur, and the trademark soft sheep wool. Some people even trade livestock during the fair such as sheep, goat, cow and horses Location: #RampurBushahr, #Shimla, #HimachalPradesh, India.
