#KhecheopalriLake is a lake located near Khecheopalri village, 147 kilometres west of #Gangtok in the #WestSikkim district of the Northeastern Indian state of #Sikkim. The lake is sacred for both #Buddhists and #Hindus, and is believed to be a wish fulfilling lake. The local name for the lake is Sho Dzo Sho, which means "Oh Lady, Sit Here". The popularly known name of the lake, considering its location is Khecheopalri Lake, ensconced in the midst of the #Khechoedpaldri hill, which is also considered a sacred hill. An interesting feature of the lake is that leaves are not allowed to float on the lake, which is ensured by the birds which industriously pick them up as soon as they drop into the lake surface. The Khecheopalri Lake and the Khangchendzonga National Park are conserved from the biodiversity perspective with ecotourism and pilgrimage as essential offshoots. As a result, their recreational and sacredness values are enhanced. #KadalekaluGanesha! This giant statue of #LordGanesha was carved out of a huge boulder at the northeastern slope of the #HemakutaHill. The belly of this statue resembles a Bengal gram (#Kadalekalu, in local language) and hence the name. A sanctum is built around the statue. The pillared hall in front of this sanctum is as charming as this giant statue itself. The open hall constructed by unusually slender and tall pillars. Each of them is highly ornate with mythical themes. This 4.5 meters (15 feet) tall statue is one among the largest sculptures in Hampi. The pillared hall is a vantage point to survey the environs, especially the #HampiBazaar and the foothills of #MatangaHill. #Hampi | #Karnataka | India Amazing click by @travelling_cutlet Repost from @incredible_hampi #incredible_hampi

#GangotriDham, located at the height of 3,100 meters (approx.) on the #Himalayan range in #Uttarkashi district of #Uttarakhand, holds a very special place in the hearts of #Hindus. It is one of the four sacred and important pilgrimage sites of #ChotaCharDhamYatra in Uttarakhand. Amid all the natural beauty and grace which the mountains and altitude of the place affords, what makes #Gangotri one of the holiest places is its intimate connection with #RiverGanga (the Ganges). #GangaMaa (mother), the much revered deity of Hindus, originates from the #Gangotri glacier at #Gaumukh which is some 18 km from the #GangotriTown. It is said that #GoddessGanga came to earth in order to wash away the sins of King Bhagirathi's ancestors. From the folds of mythology till the present time, #GangaRiver has always been a sacred source of purity for the mankind. Coming to Gangotri for a religious tour is not only a religious duty but a spiritual calling too.
