How can one aptly describe the monument which inspired the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. One of the first monuments signifying the Mughal glory in the Indian subcontinent, the Humayun's Tomb is in contrast the symbol of a wife's love for her late husband. Additionally the Humayun's Tomb complex is home to many other tales and interesting anecdotes with respect to the life and times of the Mughals. The tomb was an important destination throughout the Mughal rule, with significant events taking place in its premises. The complex also houses many other lesser known structures such as the Isa Khan tomb, predating the Humayun's Tomb, which is an excellent example of the less prevent Pathan architecture with an active use of blue and green glazed tiles in the tomb and adjacent mosque. The tomb and garden of Bu Halima, Arab ki Serai and Afsarwala Tomb also form an integral but unexplored section of the complex. In addition to this, the main compound of the mausoleum is adorned by the Nili Gumbad, Barber's Tomb and various other Mughal adornments with an intrinsic history. Mayuranathar Temple, Mayavaram, Tamilnadu The town #Mayavaram is around 46 KM from #Chidambaram. It is famous for an ancient #LordShiva temple called #MayuranatharTemple ( Lord Shiva in Lingam form ). As per records and inscriptions, it is believed that it was built in the period of medieval Cholas in 9th century that is that this temple is around 1300 years.bThe grandeur of the Chola architecture makes it one of the most beautiful shrines in #TamilNadu. Added attraction in this temple is KUDHAMBAI SIDDHAR Jeeva Samadhi ..Siddhars are great scholars lived in India .. It is strongly believed by devotees that praying in the Siddhar Sannidhi brings lots of positive energy vibrations to the devotee .. There are around 18 siddhars lived in the ancient times .. The second attraction is the God SATTAI NATHAR who is a manifestation of Lord Shiva .. This unique form of Lord Shiva darshan can be had in Sirkhazhi which is at 20 KM from Mayavaram... It is opened for devotees darshan on Fridays .. LEGEND OF SATTAINATHAR : Mahavishnu incurred a dosham for having sent King Mahabali to Patalam ( story of Vamana Avatara). He wanted to get relieved of this and prayed here. Shiva wanted to show that there is no difference between Him and Vishnu and He took the skin off Vishnu’s body whereby the dosham was removed. He used this skin as an adornment in His body and hence He is called Sattainathar ( sattai in tamil means shirt or dress). The Legend of Mayuranathaswami Temple: According to the legend, once Lord Shiva gets angered by Goddess Parvathi. So, he curses her to be born as a peacock... Later she repents for her mistake and asksfor forgiveness. Hence, she prays at Mylapore and Mayiladuthurai to overcome the curse. Pleased by her penance, Lord Shiva is said to have forgiven her... This temple has a beautiful Nataraja Bronze statue with His Consort Parvathi called Sivagami Ammai in Tamil .. I uploaded here a close up shot of this ancient Lord Nataraja bronze statue .. The craftsmanship is really unbelievable. Repost from @indiancontents

Amazing click by @aerial_holic #Tanjore Big temple as one of the Oldest World’s Heritage. They nest the marvel under the “Great Living Chola Temples”. #AiravateeswararTemple and the #GangaikondaCholapuramTemple in #TamilNadu were also declared as one of the greatest heritage monuments. The temple is built up to a height of 216 feet and the temple is carved out of granite stones which weigh about 130,000 tons. The wondering aspect about this temple architecture is the technology used behind it. The entire temple is made by the method of interlocking stones, in which one rock is kept over the other without using the joint mortars and in some cases, they have used lime mortar for binding of rock pieces. The vast foundation of the temple is made without excavating the earth with a single grain of sand and yet the temple stands in its position and hence it is named as Big Temple. The temple is made with absolute zero degree inclination which makes the temple stand straight for more than 1000 years. Another architectural marvel of the Raja Gopuram is the shadow of the whole gopuram never falls on the ground. This excellent construction done during the historic period is considered as geometrically perfect since it was constructed late 1000s of years ago. The perfect balance and construction technique which made the temple to stand against natural calamities. #brihadeeswarartemple #southindiatemple #indiantemples #indiantemplearchitecture #temple #southindiatourism #nanditemple #indiatourism #indiantravelblogger #tamilnadutourism #thanjavurtemple #thanjavurtamilnadu #southindia #southindiatravel #tamilnadutemples #incredibleindia #createwithsrishti #dronesofindia #dronesofinstagram #tamilnaduphotography #instagram

Ancient Well Rediscovered in #Dalijoda Forest Range INTACH Team reports finding to ASI An ancient well which may date back to the 12th/13th Century AD has resurfaced in #Ambilijhari village inside #DalijodaForest Ranges of #Katak. The well had been in local folklore since ages, but had been totally engulfed in thick vegetation and its exact location was lost. Debjit Singh Deo, of the erstwhile Panchakote Royalty, who resides in nearby Kila Dalijoda Palace, had the wild vegetation and thick shrubs cleared up with the help of the local tribals and the well was exposed for the first time since decades. He had informed the find to the Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) and a four member team, comprising of me, Dr. Biswajit Mohanty, Deepak Nayak and Suman Prakash Swain visited the spot and carried out a survey of this ancient monument. Assisted by the local tribals of Ambilijhari village, we made a detailed study of the well and its environs. The Kumbh Mela 2021 - The Largest Human Gathering on Earth Shahi Snan 2021 The ‘Samudra Manthan’ which means the churning of the oceans, was not an easy task. The gods and demons both got together and using a huge mountain called Mandara as a pole, began to stir the waters. Lord Vishnu took the form of a tortoise ‘Kurma’(which is his second avatar) and kept the mountain on his back, so it does not slip into the depths of the ocean. Vasuki, a gigantic snake, was tied to the pole, and everyone began to pull it from either side. The water began to sway and the waves turned to whirls, and from amidst the currents, first came out a poisonous substance. On seeing this liquid, demons & gods alike were terrified. They feared it would destroy the entire universe. They prayed to Lord Shiva for his help & guidance. Shiva drank the poison but did not swallow it. The poison turned his throat turned blue and since then he came to be known as Neelkantha meaning the blue-throated god. Still in need of the amrita, a war broke out between the gods and demons. To finally put an end to everything Vishnu, transforming as a beautiful maiden called Mohini, managed to deceive the demons and acquire the amrita. In his attempt to escape them, Lord Vishnu passed on the pot of nectar to his winged companion Garuda. But before Garuda could flee, a few demons attacked him and during this fight, a few drops of the nectar fell onto earth. The drops fell in Allahabad, Haridwar, Nasik and Ujjain. It is believed that these drops of nectar cleansed the lands and thus devotees visit the famous Kumbh Mela every 12 years, to wash away their sins.
