#Salem, #TamilNadu is a city of temples. The city has many beautiful, unique and historic temples which are famous all over the world. One of which is 1008 lingam temple. Located in Ariyanoor, a suburb of Salem city, 1008 Lingam Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in the country. It has 1007 shiv lingam, which surrounds the main temple of Shiva, and the main shiv linga in the center. It was created and now maintained by the private department of Vinayaka Mission. The temple was constructed in 2010, by Vinayaka Mission, who is very much active in educational sector. The Vinayaka Mission has started and manages various colleges, who provide undergraduate and graduate studies in different fields. About 1008 Lingam Temple: #1008LingamTemple is located in Ariyanoor, which is a suburb of Salem city on a hillock near Kunjmaala. The temple is managed by a separate dept. of Vinayaka Mission. The temple was constructed in 2010. The temple has 1007 lingams which surrounds the main shiv temple, which has the 1008th lingam with the holy cow Nandi’s statue in front. For visiting the temple, you have to go on Sangagiri to Salem highway, just after crossing the institutions of Vinayaka Mission. When you cross the gate of Temple, you can see an enormous statue of Ganesha at the foothills. The security guard is very helpful and guides you to the road you have to take for going on the top. You can take your vehicle to the top of the hillock, but if you walk you can enjoy the scenic surroundings and visit each lingam and offer your prayers. Every lingam is named after the thousand names of the Lord Shiva. While walking or driving your vehicle to the top, you can also catch a glimpse of the Sangagiri Mountains. These mountains and the surrounding greenery create an ethereal sense of peace and serenity in your mind and soul. In addition of the lingams, the beautiful sculptures of Lord Muruga are interspersed in the area and are maintained very well by the administrators of the temple. On the top of the hillock, you can see a magnificent and huge main statue of Sri Umaiyambigai Samedha Sri Arunachala Sundareswara. The height of lingam is said to be about 17 meters.

#RamanathaswamyTemple (Rāmanātasvāmi Kōyil) is a #HinduTemple dedicated to the #GodShiva located on #Rameswaram island in the state of #TamilNadu, India. It is also one of the twelve #Jyotirlinga temples. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where the three of the most revered Nayanars (Saivite saints), Appar, Sundarar and Tirugnana Sambandar, have glorified the temple with their songs. The temple was expanded during the 12th century by Pandya Dynasty, and its principal shrines sanctum were renovated by Jeyaveera Cinkaiariyan and his successor Gunaveera Cinkaiariyan of the Jaffna kingdom. The temple has the longest corridor among all Hindu temples in India.[1] The temple is located in Rameswaram considered a holy pilgrimage site for Shaivites, Vaishnavites and Smarthas. The presiding deity, the Lingam of Ramanathaswamy (Shiva), was established and worshiped by Rama before crossing his bridge to Lanka.

Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple is third of the Six Abodes of Murugan (Aarupadai veedugal). It is located in the city of Palani earlier it was known as #Thiruaavinankudi(as mentioned in the old Sangam literature #Thirumurugatrupadai),#Dindigul district, 100 kilometres (62 mi) southeast of Coimbatore and northwest of Madurai in the foothills of the #PalaniHills, #TamilNadu, India. #PalanTtemple is considered synonymous with Panchamritam, a sweet mixture made of five ingredients.

#AdamsFountain is a public display fountain in Charring cross, #Ooty. It was built in 1886 as a memorial to a Governor of Ooty, who was very famous in the region during his tenure. The total cost of finishing the fountain was between Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 14000, which was funded through public funding. The fountain was originally planned to be placed near the Ooty market. But it was decided later that the site in front of the District collector's office in Ooty was a better place as it had higher number of passers by. After building the fountain, it was discovered that the site did not have the necessary water head for the fountain to function properly. It was finally moved to its present location in Charring cross in 1898. An old melanoxylon tree which stood in the site of the present location of the fountain, which was considered as a landmark in Charring cross was removed for the construction of the fountain.

#NamakkalAnjaneyarTemple is located in #Namakkal, a town in Namakkal district in #TamilNadu, India and is dedicated to the Hindu god #Hanuman. It is constructed in the Tamil style of architecture. The legend of the temple is associated with Narasimha, an avatar of Hindu god Vishnu appearing for Hanuman and Lakshmi. The image of Anjaneyar is 18 ft (5.5 m) tall, making it one of the tallest images of Hanuman in India. The Agamam is followed by "Sri Vaikhanasam". The temple has a pillared hall leading to the sanctum. Four daily rituals and many yearly festivals are held at the temple, of which fifteen-day Panguni Uthiram festival celebrated during the Tamil month of Panguni (March - April) when the image of presiding deities are taken around the streets of the temple, being the most prominent. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

The St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral also #StXavierChurch is a Roman Catholic Latin Rite shrine located at Kottar, #Nagercoil in #Kanyakumari district of #TamilNadu state, India. While Saint Xavier was doing missionary work at Kottar and its neighbourhood, he averted an invasion of Vadugas with the help of the army of Paravars and Padaiyatchis of Kottar, at Vadasery, thus protected the people of Venad kingdom from that attack which was appreciated by the king, Unni Kerala Varma, who became closer to the priest and befriended him from then on. In recognition of Xavier’s services, the king allotted him a piece of land to construct a Catholic church, as a gesture of goodwill, as per the church records. There was already a small church, in the same place where St. Xavier’s church stands at present, dedicated to Mary the Mother of God, since AD 1544 . Church records indicate that St. Xavier Church was built in 1600. In 1865, the Shrine of Mary was renovated and enlarged. In 1930, the church was raised to the status of a cathedral. The annual festival is celebrated during November – December, lasting for 10 days.

The #ThanumalayanTemple, also called #SthanumalayanTemple is an important #HinduTemple located in #Suchindram in the #Kanyakumari district of #TamilNadu, India. It is one of the 108 shiva temple revered by the Kerala Hindu culture, though this temple is now in Tamil Nadu, when #KanyakumariDistrict got merged into Tamil Nadu from #Travancore .The Thanumalayan Temple is of importance to both Shaivaite and Vaishnavite sects of Hinduism, as the name Stanumalaya denotes Trimurtis; "Stanu" means Siva; "Mal" means Vishnu; and the "Ayan" means Brahma.

#KumbakkaraiFalls are lesser known falls in the foothills of the #Kodaikanal Hills. They are located at in #Dindigul district, 9 kilometers from #Periyakulam. #Kumbakkarai Falls are located along the Kodai-Vellagavi-Periyakulam footpath. These falls have two stages. At the first stage, water collects in huge rock recesses which are each named after wild animals such as tiger, elephant, snake etc. The Pambar river then flows .5 km (0.31 mi) to the second stage before falling as the main #waterfall. The water originates in #KodaikanalHills and flows along the rocks and finally reaches the foot hills. This place is called Kumbakarai. The travellers come here and take bath in the falls. The water flows throughout the year; but in rainy seasons the flow will be very heavy. Bathing is possible. There is a bus from #Periyakulam with fare of Rs. 5 (6AM,7AM,1PM,3.30PM,4.30PM). There is no guest house

#Teppakulam also known as Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam in Madurai, #TamilNadu is a temple surrounded by ghats on all four sides. #JalakandeswararTemple is a temple dedicated to #LordShiva which is located in the #Vellore Fort, in heart of the #VelloreCity, in the state of #TamilNadu, India. According to legend, there used to a giant ant-hill at the location where the sanctum sanctorum of temple now stands. This ant-hill was surrounded by stagnant water, as a result of collection of rain water, and at some time a #ShivaLingam was placed in this water around the ant hill and worshiped. Chinna Bommi Nayaka, a Vijayanagar chieftain, who was controlling the fort had a dream where the Lord Shiva asked him to build a temple at that location. Nayaka, proceeded to demolish the anthill and build the temple in 1550 CE, and since the Lingam was surrounded by water (called Jalam in Tamil) the deity was called as Jalakandeswarar (translated as "Lord Siva residing in the water"). The temple was built during the reign of the Vijayanagaram king Sadasivadeva Maharaya (1540–1572 CE). The temple also has the statue of Sri Akhilandeshwari Amma, the consort of Jalakandeswarar.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, also known as Sanctuary of Our Lady of Vailankanni, is a Marian shrine located at the small town of Velankanni in Tamil Nadu, South India. The Roman Catholic Latin Rite Basilica is dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health. Devotion to Our Lady of Good Health of Velankanni can be traced back to the mid-16th century, and is attributed to three separate miracles at the sites surrounding the Basilica: The apparition of Blessed Mary and the Christ Child to a slumbering shepherd boy, the healing of a handicapped buttermilk vendor, and the rescue of Portuguese sailors from a deadly sea storm. Monkey Falls are natural #waterfalls located near the uphill ghat road #Valparai on the Pollachi-Valparai road in the #AnaimalaiHills range, in #Coimbatore district. An interesting trek route at the #MonkeyFalls; a linear stretch of evergreen forests surrounded by rocky cliffs, is available and regular guided treks are conducted during favourable season. Prior request should be given to the #TamilNadu Forest Department headquarters at Pollachi before a fortnight. #TheMonkeyFalls is a roadside stop situated 65 kilometers (40 mi) from Coimbatore and 29 kilometers (18 mi) from Pollachi on the Coimbatore - Pollachi - Valparai main road next to Arutperunjothi Nagar and Azhiyar Valparai Forest Department Check Post of IFS. Monkey Falls is a famous and popular tourism spot. Monkey falls is an ideal place for little children and adults to take a bath. Ticket fee is Rs 30 to enter inside the falls vicinity. Precaution: In case if you parked the bike in roadside beware of Monkeys since it will open the tank cover and will take the things inside the tank cover. Also be careful near waterfall since in some place it will make you to slip and there is a chance of acquiring injury.

Rani Sui is a small, lesser known lake, situated away from the hustle and bustle of the towns of #Kullu and #Manali. One of the Worlds Largest Shivlinga is in #Madhyapradesh, #BhojeshwarTemple. As per legends The original temple in this place dates back to the Mahabharata era, Raja Bhoj rebuilt and expanded it. This temple needs maintenance. Bhojeshwar temple of #Bhojpur is famous for the one of the largest Shiva Lingam in India, The 18 ft high #ShivaLingam is crafted out a single rock located in Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh. Bhojpur Shiva Temple is one of the most amazing temple of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated on the bank of river Betwa. The temple here was built by the Parmara ruler of Malwa, Raja Bhoj (1010-1055 CE). The King lived in his capital, Dhar and was a great patron of art, literature and science. Interestingly, according to folklore, he is also said to have founded the settlement of Bhopal, originally called Bhojpal. On the banks of this man-made lake, he commissioned a large Shiva temple, called the Bhojeshwar temple, with a massive shivling measuring 7.5 feet (2.3 m) in height and 17.8 feet (5.4 m) in circumference. It is set on a square platform, whose sides measure 21.5 feet (6.6 m).The total height of the lingam, including the platform is over 40 feet (12 m)! This makes it the tallest in the country. The Indra Lingam has east as its direction. It is associated with the celestial Lord Indra. This Temple is located in Thiruvoodal St, #Tiruvennanallur, #Tiruvannamalai, #TamilNadu. This Lingam is situated on Car Street close to the eastern tower of Arunachaleswarar Temple. Lord Indra is the king of Heaven according to Hindu mythology. His consort is Indrani. His vehicle is the celebrated four-tusked white elephant Iravathi. Indra manifests seated on his elephant wielding in his hand the weapon Vajra with which he destroys ignorance and bestows spiritual knowledge on his deserving devotees. The Indra Lingam is dominated by the Navagrahas, Lord Surya and Lord Shukra (Venus). Devotees are blessed with long life and with prosperity, on worshipping Indra lingam.
