The #BakthangWaterfall is only 20 minutes drive from #Gangtok town to a place called #Swastik, adjacent to the army cantonment area. A serene #waterfalls cascades down the rock forming a small pool down below. It is located along the 31A National Highway connecting to North Sikkim. In local language ‘Bak’ means a forest and ‘thang’ meaning meadow or place. The natural spring water source of this falls originates from the dense vegetation above this site which is preserved as a Smriti Ban by the Forest Department. This site is little away from the crowded market place and hidden from the urban sprawl. A offbeat place to relax and be completely free from pollution, noise and dust and much loved by many of the domestic visitors. The place also offers a cafeteria for tea and snacks and local photography services to take pictures with local costumes and dresses for visitors. Some of the adventure enthusiasts can also try rappelling down the cliff on a prefixed rope which is organized by the local tourism committee of the area. There is a place in #Sikkim, known by the name #ThambiViewPoint, which is at a height of 11,600 ft from sea level. #ThambiView Point is exactly the spot, you need to target, to get a view of the entire #EasternHimalaya, including the high peaks of the #MountKanchenjunga. Thambi View Point is at a distance of 14 km from #Zuluk on the famous #ZigZagRoad, and its altitude is around 10,000 km from the sea level. Since Thambi viewpoint is at a greater height (11,600 ft) than Zuluk (10,000 ft), you still need to travel higher to reach Thambi View Point after starting your journey from Zuluk. The roadway to Thambi ViewPoint from Zuluk has plenty of bends and geometric curves, and so you enjoy a zigzag path while traveling, and this zigzag path looks quite unusual when looked from Thambi View Point (after reaching there). What great skills the people had, who created those zig-zag paths on the mountains in three different levels. These zigzag paths are also called Bhul Bhulaiya in the Hindi Language. Zuluk is even smaller than a village, and so it is called a hamlet with only 700 people as its population. Zuluk is located on lower Himalayas in Eastern Sikkim.
