#VirupakshaTemple is the main center of pilgrimage at #Hampi, and had been considered the most sacred sanctuary over the centuries. It is intact among the surrounding ruins and is still used in worship. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, known here as #Virupaksha, as the consort of the local goddess Pampadevi who is associated with the Tungabhadra River. Amazing clicks by @bhupi_maderna #PanchKedarTemples : #Uttarakhand #PanchKedar (पञ्चकेदार) refers to five #HinduTemples or holy places of the #Shivaite sect dedicated to #GodShiva. Located in #Gharwal region of #Uttarakhand state. Folk legend about Panch Kedar relates to the Pandavas, the heroes of the Hindu epic Mahabharata. The Pandavas defeated and slayed their cousins — the Kauravas in the epic Kurukshetra war. They wished to atone for the sins of War. For killing their brothers and other brahmins. Thus, they left in search of lord Shiva and to seek his blessings.When not finding Shiva Anywhere, the Pandavas went to Garhwal Himalayas. Where they pleased with appearance of lord Shiva in five different forms, built temples at the five places for venerating and worshipping Shiva.The Pandavas were thus freed from their sins. The five temples designated in the strict pecking order to be followed for pilgrimage for worship are 1.#Kedarnath (3583m)- The hump of Lord d hiva is worshipped here 2.#Madhmaheshwar (3490m)- The Belly button of Lord Shiva is worshipped here 3.#Tungnath (3680m)- The arms of Lord Shiva are worshipped here 4.#Rudranath (3559m)- The face of Lord Shiva is worshipped here 5.#Kalpeshwar (2200m)- The hair of Lord Shiva is worshipped here

#DeoriaTal (also #Devaria' or '#Deoriya) is a lake about 3 km from the villages of #Mastura and #Sari on the #Ukhimath-#Chopta road in #Uttarakhand. At an altitude of 2,438 meters, it has heavily wooded, lush green surroundings with snow-covered mountains (Chaukhamba is one of them) in the backdrop. The #SomnathTemple (also known as the #DeoPatan) located in #PrabhasPatan near #Veraval in #Saurashtra on the western coast of #Gujarat, India is believed to be the first among the twelve jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. It is an important pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat. Reconstructed several times in the past after repeated destruction by several invaders and rulers, the present temple was reconstructed in the Chaulukya style of Hindu temple architecture and completed in May 1951. The reconstruction was started under the orders of the Home Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel and completed after his death. Presently Prime minister of India Narendra Modi is the president of Somnath Mandir trust.
